Hilary began her professional life as a freelance cellist, after a degree in English Literature as a music scholar at Cambridge University, and post-graduate performance studies at Mannes College, New York. 

When she started her own contracting business in 2001, she used her musicality to bring together players from the amazing musicians with whom she had had the privilege of working. Every player in a studio was chosen to match the character of the composer, the score, the project; and to mould together with each other into a seamless musical ensemble. Her clients from the earliest days of her business - for example Dario Marianelli, Alex Heffes, Patrick Doyle - continue to work with her today. 

She continues to work in this creative way, and the genesis of LRO is steeped in an appreciation of the live talent of our musicians. This ensemble is your support system to bring creative and explorative contemporary scores alive.
